A Field Guide: Meppel
An attempt to translate the city of Meppel to a book. Meppel is being explored with a GPS device handy to register the exact GPS coordinates for every reference made from the book to the city and vice versa. This setup delivers the stage and investigatory framework for developing the publication. The story of the book will be formed by using language not only as a communicative source, but in an abstract way, based on a proposed deformation of genre, styles and text in general as can be found in Meppel. Research is done ‘on the spot’, and should lead to a direct link between geographical coordinates and the actual pages in the book. The blue marks represent the geographical location of Arjan (me) on the moment any idea or input has taken form, updated continuously for the duration of the project (3rd of november untill the 13th of december 2008).

UPDATE:
Right now the book is ready and being printed, and an installation is now being build in the basement of the Milk Factory using samples of the text, ideas and visual input aquired during the research for the book.
